PREMIUM RATED MESSAGING

In conjunction with our Two-Way messaging services, Vodacom Developer Zone also offers Premium Rate Services including:

• Dedicated 5 Digit Shortcodes (e.g. 32506)
  This number is yours exclusively, no one else can make use of it.
• Shared (keyword) Shortcodes (e.g. 32506 keyword = house)
  This number is not exclusively yours, however the keyword of your choosing is what identifies your campaign.
• 10-digit Premium Rate Numbers (e.g. 0821234567)
  This number is exclusively yours however it is the length of a normal mobile number at 10-digits.   Note, 10-digit numbers are not cross-network, meaning you will receive 3 separate numbers; viz. an 082 for Vodacom subscribers, an 083 number for MTN subscribers and an 084 number for Cell C subscribers.

Integrating Two Way Messaging

Integration with Vodacom Developer Zone for bidirectional SMS services is simple, and incoming messages can be routed to your application via HTTP, FTP or SMPP protocols. This means that incoming messages (MO messages) can be managed by your own software or database, giving you full flexibility. We also support a simple single SMS reply, if you do not have your own hosting facilities

Vodacom Developer Zone's bidirectional messaging can seamlessly integrate with your existing or new Vodacom Developer Zone account, binding into the same account details that you are using to deliver messages to your recipients. For more information on integrating two-way SMS please download:

Depending on the type of premium rate number chosen, prices will differ.   Note, also that the price for each incoming message is equal to 1/3 of an SMS credit. View our premium rate pricing below:

SA Premium Rate Pricing - Dedicated Short Code

1. A setup fee of R2000 (ex VAT) is charged for each number configuration.
2. The monthly number rental is R500 (ex VAT) (3 months payable in advance)
3. A charge of 1/3 of an SMS credit will be deducted for each inbound message. This amount will be deducted from your account at the end of each month.

SA Premium Rate Pricing - Shared Short Code

1. A setup fee of R1000 (ex VAT) is charged for each number configuration.
2. The monthly number rental is R300 (ex VAT) (3 months payable in advance)
3. A charge of 1/3 of an SMS credit will be deducted for each inbound message. This amount will be deducted from your account at the end of each month.

SA Premium Rate Pricing - 10 Digit Number  

1. A setup fee of R1000 (ex VAT) is charged for each number configuration.
2. The monthly number rental is R250 (ex VAT) (3 months payable in advance)
3. A charge of 1/3 of an SMS credit will be deducted for each inbound message. This amount will be deducted from your account at the end of each month.

How to Apply for Premium Rate Messaging

If you are an Existing registered Vodazone user then please login to your account, click on the "Premium Rate Form" link under "Product Control", and fill in your details.

If you are New Vodazone user then please first register for an API account before filling in the "Premium Rate Form" found under "Product Control" in the extranet area.
